The game of soccer is arguably the most beautiful game in the world, and its massive popularity across all continents would justify that statement even more. The mechanics of the game of soccer is to move the ball across the field into a goal consisting of two vertical posts and a horizontal post above them, known as the poles and the crossbar in soccer terms, and is played by ten men plus a goalkeeper each side. The catch is that players, except the goalkeeper, are not allowed to use their hands and arms when moving the ball.
The official time of a soccer game is ninety minutes split into two forty five minute halves, with each half adding stoppage time consisting of the combined time where play was stopped due to various reasons with the most common being injuries. The match would end even if the score is tied, unless the match calls for a winner and in that event the game heads to extra time and penalty shootouts to break the deadlock.
Though soccer is a global sport, there are specific countries that can be called powerhouses, and one of those countries is Spain. Many experts would agree that they have developed such great skill thanks to excellent grassroots development plus a world class professional league, the La Liga. The level of competition is also boosted by the fact that some of the world?s greatest players head over to Spain to play in this league thanks to its prestige as compared to others.
They are also one of the most popular professional leagues regardless of sport, and their main draws are the clubs Real Madrid and the Barcelona sporting club, or simply known as FC Barcelona. In any given game, those two clubs have stadiums that can hold over 180,000 people.
Of course, there are still numerous leagues all over the world that can provide elite level of competition, and those include the Premier League in England and also the Serie A in Italy. Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool FC, Inter Milan and Juventus are some of the clubs that have cut their fangs in those two prestigious leagues. Other than those European countries, South America has also become a breeding ground for the game of soccer with excellent soccer nations such as Brazil and Argentina, home of some of the finest soccer players in the world including Kaka and Lionel Messi.
